Makes 1 cocktail

 

2 oz. Rye Whiskey

2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 Maraschino cherry (Luxardo)
Ice

 

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add rye, vermouth, and bitters and stir well.

    1. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with maraschino cherry.

    Variations:

    • Bourbon Manhattan: Replace the rye with bourbon, the sweet vermouth with dry vermouth, and the Angostura bitters with orange bitters.
    • Rob Roy: Use Scotch whiskey instead of rye.
    • Black Manhattan: Swap in amaro for the sweet vermouth.
